The Pre Amp
A preamp designed to drive 73 or 88 pickups is needed in order to handle the deep bass notes as well as the high bell
notes the Rhodes can produce. An electric guitar amp/pre will not function well because
it lacks the ability to reproduce the low frequencies
of the bass keys and to deliver the legendary Rhodes bell sounds. We recommend getting a vintage Stereo Fender Rhodes preamp from 1970-1976 (The one with the knobs - not sliders!). You can also order a custom unit vintage reproduction here.
Example Mono configuration
 The
Rhodes Stage piano output is mono. A simple, small amp-alternative
to deliver the full range of original sound can be the
Motion
Sound KM-12 Amplifier.
Example Stereo configuration
This method
increases the musical capabilities of the Fender Rhodes piano,
and enables reproduction of the legendary Suitcase Modelsound.
With this configuration you can use the vibrato feature
and enhance the sound with harmonic clarifiers and aural
exciters to reproduce some of the great 70's Dyno sounds.
