Upgraded 1978 Rhodes Suitcase with Backcheks
This one of a kind Suitcase Rhodes is a labor of love created from late 1978 Suitcase. This Rhodes have been upgraded with backchecks, a felt-covered wooden block that catches the hammer after it strikes the tine. Rhodes pianos were produced in a cost-effective manner and this important action part was spared. Adding the backchecks enhanced the feel and touch and reduces mechanical noises, making this Rhodes operation especially quiet and responsive.
Upgraded Tonebar Grommets
We’ve installed our latest tonerbar grommets in a unique 3-shore configuration for optimal sustain and note stability. Standard Rhodes grommets come in one hardness across all notes. Having harder grommets in the bass section improves the stability of over-swinging tines and softer grommets in the higher notes produces longer sustain than standard Rhodes pianos.
Upgraded Hammertips
We upgraded the original 5-shore hammertips to an 8-shore configuration for smoother transition between shores. This configuration is unique to our workshop. Other updates to this piano include all new hardware, updated power supply and amps for improved signal-to-noise ratio.
ExoHyde Pro Grade Textured Protective Cabinet Coating
The original tolex has been stripped and the piano and amp cabinets have been painted with multiple layers of ExoHyde textured protective coating. This upgrade enhances the aesthetic appeal and significantly improves resistance to wear and tear. Unlike tolex, ExoHyde is easy to touch up in case it gets damaged during transportation. The piano’s lid was also painted with EcoHyde for a cohesive look and a velvet fabric has been fitted to the outer cover for a snug fit.
The piano has been fully serviced, voiced, and tuned to perfection in our workshop. For more details about this piano please email us.
