1978 Rhodes Suitcase 73 Keys with Backcheks
Discover the timeless elegance of our restored Suitcase model piano, a vintage masterpiece from the 52nd week of 1978. Its shiny tonebars produce a full, rich tone with long sustain, a testament to its careful storage in a studio environment.
We’ve installed new tonerbar grommets in a 3-shore configuration for optimal sustain and note stability. We upgraded the hammertips with a custom mix of new and old stock in an 8-shore configuration for seamless transition between shores.
Our Rhodes piano stands out with a unique upgrade: real upright backchecks. This modification, featuring a small felt-covered wooden block that catches the hammer after it strikes the tine, enhances the overall action and reduces mechanical noises, making this Rhodes operation especially quiet.
The piano’s outer covering, originally Tolex, has been upgraded to a professionally textured protective coating, commonly found on high-end PA speakers. This upgrade enhances the aesthetic appeal and significantly improves resistance to wear and tear.
The top plastic cover has been treated with the same professional covering for a cohesive look and a velvet fabric has been fitted to the outer cover for a snug fit during transportation.
All new exterior hardware including new screws, corners, hinges, latches, and glides.
We’ve updated the power supply and amps with upgraded capacitors for improved signal-to-noise ratio and calibrated the bias and offset. The piano has been regulated, voiced, and tuned to perfection.
